Secure Government Data Platform

A centralized system design for secure organizational data management across departments.

This case study is an illustrative concept demonstrating the kind of system SentinelCore designs. It does not represent completed client work.

Overview

A concept platform for consolidating departmental records into a single, access-controlled system of record, replacing fragmented spreadsheets and siloed local databases.

Problem

Departments frequently maintain their own disconnected records, leading to inconsistent data, duplicated effort and no single source of truth for reporting.

Objectives

  • Provide one authoritative data store across departments
  • Enforce least-privilege access per department and role
  • Support structured reporting for leadership
  • Maintain a complete audit trail of data changes

Solution

A modular data platform with department-scoped record types, a shared identity and permissions layer, and a reporting layer that aggregates data without exposing records outside each department's authority.

Key Features

  • Department-scoped record management
  • Centralized identity and access management
  • Configurable reporting dashboards
  • Full change-history audit logging
  • Data export controls

Architecture

A single PostgreSQL-backed data layer with row-level security enforcing department boundaries, fronted by a Next.js application and a permissions service handling authentication and authorization.

Challenges

Migrating from fragmented legacy spreadsheets requires careful data-modeling work up front; the architecture accounts for phased department-by-department onboarding rather than a single cutover.

Results & Outcomes

Concept stage — implementation results will be added once this design is delivered for a specific government client.
