Overview

SCEdu replaces spreadsheets and paper registers with one system. Each school keeps its own student records, attendance, results and fees, while parents see their own children's progress and pay fees online.

Problem

Many secondary schools run on spreadsheets and paper registers, which makes attendance, results approval, fee tracking and communication with parents slow and hard to audit.

Objectives

• Keep student records, attendance, results and fees in a single system
• Let teachers act only on the classes and subjects assigned to them
• Give parents and students access to approved results and fee payments
• Keep an audit trail of exports and result corrections

Solution

A multi-school platform with role-based access for admins, teachers, parents and students. Results go through submission and approval before parents can see them, and fees are invoiced per term with online payment and receipts.

Architecture

Each school is onboarded as its own account with its own name, colours and logo. Access is scoped by role, so teachers see only their assigned classes and parents see only their own children.

Challenges

Designing role boundaries that are strict enough for school data (teachers, parents and admins each see different things) while keeping daily tasks like attendance and score entry fast.
